Standard Non-Slip Whip Holsters

About a decade ago, I invented my own whip holster for carrying bullwhips.  I was inspired to do this because I really disliked the current designs on the market, as they allowed the whip to slip around when being carried.  Seemingly the only way to avoid this was to literally tie the whip up while in the holster with a separate piece of leather.  But that wasn't a good option because it didn't allow for a quick draw of the whip from the holster, nor a quick snap to put the whip back in place. 

So after some thought, I came up with a holster design that eliminates the whip from slipping while it is secured in the holster.  It has been an excellent design and over years of making and selling these the design has become more and more refined.

These holsters are fully adjustable for all whip sizes.  They also release instantly with a snap, for that quick draw situation against a six gun!  This design completely eliminates whip slippage while sprinting after kidnapped women or jumping over deep ravines.  No kidding!  Now you can enjoy fighting on top of WWI tanks while having your whip securely hanging just where you put it, just in the way you put it!

I've been supplying these to customers for a few years now and they have been so well received.  The nonslip whip holster adjusts to different size whips by adjusting the distance the artificial bone crossbar is from the back of the holster.  For the first use, put the whip in the holster, close the snap, and then tighten it up.  After that it will always remain at that setting until you wish to re-adjust it for a different whip.  You can take the whip in and out of the holster instantly with a snap, and yet you'll never have to worry about the whip coming loose, unraveling and unrolling, the handle slowly but surely falling lower and lower along the side of your leg, or any other such nuisance.

Another problem frequently encountered with regular whip holsters is that not only does the whip slip about in the holster and unravel, but sometimes the holster comes unsnapped when the wearer moves to quickly and jolts the whip about.  The weight and bulge of the whip press outwards against the snap and it pops open!  In the nonslip holster, this is flaw has been fully eliminated.  This is because in the nonslip holster, the bulge of the rolled up whip doesn't press the snap open, but rather it presses it closed! The draw on these holsters is very fast. This is because the direction of the snap's movement is opposite the direction of pull on the whip. I believe this gives much more speed and control in a fast draw, and besides that, it's much easier, as it allows the tension of the pull to work with you, and not against you.

Another nice use for these holsters is that they keep the whip so securely held together that they make great keepers for storing whips with.  I've had some customers who have bought one for each whip they own because they can just hang them up on them when not in use. That's how I store my whips and it works great.

I make whip holsters in heavy course grain saddle tan, natural tan, or brandy kangaroo hide.  Other colors might be available upon request.  The holster belt loop accomodates a belt up to 1 3/4" wide.  If you have a wide gunbelt you need a holster fitted for, I can do that for you aswell.  Just ask.  If you intend to use the holster for a stockwhip or other very thin or short whip, let me know while ordering so I can optimize the design to your needs.

Detachable Non-Slip Whip Holsters

At the suggestion and request of one of my many great customers, I came up with this holster design as an improvement upon the Standard Non-Slip Holster.  It offers several advantages over the original design.

Non-Slip holsters, by nature, are adjusted for individual whips.  For this reason, rather than re-adjusting the holster each time a new whip is worn, many of my customers purchase multiple holsters, one for each of their favorite whips.  They like to store their whips retained in the holsters, as keepers.  I do this myself aswell.  It's very convenient and it keeps the whips from unrolling in storage.

This design is thus best optimized for the purposes of someone who owns multiple whips, all of which he wants to be able to conveniently carry, without having to make adjustments to the holster or remove his belt each time he wants to change what holster or whip he is carrying.  The Detachable Non-Slip Holster allows for quick and easy changing of multiple holsters from the same belt loop with just a snap.

One of the many situations where I find this advantageous is while driving. While driving I can easily detach the holster from the belt loop without having to take the whip out of the holster itself. Thus the whip is retained and the belt loop is kept in place aswell.

The holster body is also less bulky than the standard design and therefore it truly does double as a whip keeper. It's less bulky than wrapping your fall.  It's also a whole lot quicker and much more secure.  The D ring at the top of the holster mounts quickly upon any hook or nail on the wall.

A further advantage of this design is the ability to mix and match belt loops for special purposes. Custom belt loops can be made for the same price as the regular size belt loops and can be used on gunbelts, or any special application. This allows for more versatility when one needs a custom holster to fit on a gun belt or satchel.  All you'd have to purchase for your new gun belt or other special mount, is a new loop to fit on it. All your holsters could be interchanged with the new or the old loop.  Loops can also be permanently attached to many items.  Standard loop size is 1 3/4" but I can make them any size very easily. The belt loop is small and discreet to be carried by itself, and doubles as a key ring retainer.

The Detachable Non-Slip Whip Holster offers all the unique advantages as the standard model, plus more.  The belt loop snap is a one way snap, and while it easily unsnaps from the top, it won't unsnap accidentally during any violent maneuver.  I tested it and I was going to destroy my belt in pulling, before it even started to come unsnapped!  Even when you do unsnap it, you can let the whip drop because the holster ring catches on the rim of the snap every time.

I have one noted disadvantage to the detachable holsters.  They hang the whip just slightly lower from the belt, and the whip may swing more during walking due to the D ring's flexibility in acting as a joint.
